Overview
Photo Reset (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is developed with a strict privacy-first philosophy. We believe your personal photos and memories belong exclusively to you. The App processes the photos and photo metadata it accesses on your device and does not upload that content to our servers or RevenueCat. Purchase validation is described below.
1. Photo Library Access
Photo Reset requires access to your Apple Photos library to function:
- Purpose: To help you revisit past memories (Daily Reset), organize your media, and identify screenshots or screen recordings for review and optional deletion.
- On-Device Processing: All scanning, filtering, grouping, and indexing of your photos occur entirely on your device using Apple's official PhotoKit APIs.
- No App Upload: Photo Reset does not upload your photos, videos, filenames, timestamps, or geolocation metadata to our servers or RevenueCat. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple may sync your library separately according to your iCloud settings.
- Limited Photos Access: You may grant Limited Access to specific photos. The App continues to work with your selected items without requiring Full Access.
2. Vault Feature
The Vault feature in Photo Reset allows you to exclude specific photos from appearing in Daily Reset, Explorer views, notifications, and widgets:
- Exclusion Only: The Vault is an in-app exclusion filter. It does not move, hide, encrypt, or modify your assets within Apple Photos or iCloud.
- Biometrics / Passcode: If enabled, authentication uses your device's native Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data is never accessed or stored by the App.
3. In-App Purchases and Financial Data
Photo Reset offers an optional one-time purchase (“Photo Reset Pro”):
- All financial transactions are processed securely by Apple via the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your credit card details or billing address.
- We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage Pro access. RevenueCat processes purchase history and an anonymous App User ID, and may process related technical information such as device type and operating system. Photo Reset does not send your photos, filenames, or photo metadata to RevenueCat.
4. Optional Advertising and Privacy Choices
Versions of Photo Reset that include rewarded ads use Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). Free users may choose to watch an ad to receive additional screenshot-deletion quota. Ads do not delete photos automatically, and Photo Reset Pro does not show rewarded ads.
- Photo content: Photo Reset does not send your photos, videos, filenames, photo timestamps, photo-location metadata, or review decisions to AdMob or the consent service. Photo-library processing remains on your device.
- SDK data: Google's SDK may collect and share IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), app- or device-related identifiers, crash and diagnostic information, performance data, ad impressions, video views, and other ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. This may occur even when ads are not personalized.
- Advertising configuration: Photo Reset disables publisher personalization and publisher first-party IDs and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission or use IDFA for cross-app tracking. These settings do not mean that the advertising SDK collects no data.
- Your choices: Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) manages consent and privacy choices where required. You may decline consent or manage the available choices. When provided, use Settings → Ad privacy choices to revisit those choices. Ad availability depends on consent eligibility and ad inventory; choosing not to watch an ad does not remove quota you already have.
- Google's practices: See Google's Privacy Policy, Google's advertising information, and Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosures. Google controls retention of data it processes under its own policies.
App Update Configuration
Photo Reset uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve the recommended app version and whether an update is optional or required. This service uses a Firebase installation ID to select configuration values for an app installation and may process technical connection information, such as the IP address, under Google’s service terms. Photo Reset does not send photos, photo metadata, or review decisions to Remote Config. This service operates independently of whether you watch ads or have Pro access.
Firebase retains installation IDs until deletion is requested through its installation-management API; after that request, removal from live and backup systems can take up to 180 days. Deleting the App does not by itself guarantee deletion of records already held by Firebase. For help with a request concerning this data, contact us using the data-deletion route below. We may need information identifying the relevant installation and cannot promise to locate a record from an email address alone. See Firebase’s privacy and security information and Firebase’s Data Processing and Security Terms.
Protection by Third-Party Services
We require third parties that receive personal data through Photo Reset to provide the same or equal protection as described in this policy and required by applicable data-protection laws. This includes limiting use to the disclosed purposes and applying appropriate safeguards. RevenueCat processes purchase-related data on our behalf under its service terms and data-processing agreement. Google processes advertising and consent data under the applicable Google terms and privacy policies; its own retention rules and privacy-request procedures also apply.
You can review RevenueCat's privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy. These services may retain certain records for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution. The protections described here do not mean that the services collect no data or that all records can be deleted immediately.
5. Local Data Storage
Preferences, session progress, review history counts, Vault exclusion identifiers, and the screenshot quota ledger are stored locally on your device. The quota ledger records your initial allowance, earned credits, successful deletions and recent reward-session identifiers to prevent duplicate credits. These quota records are not sent to an app-owned reward server or synchronized between devices. Google's consent SDK also stores privacy-choice information needed to apply your choices.
Deleting the App normally removes its local sandbox data; device backup and restore behavior is controlled by iOS. This does not erase data already processed by Google or RevenueCat, which is subject to their respective policies. Your original photos in Apple Photos remain unaffected.
Requesting Data Deletion or Withdrawing Consent
- Contact us: Email [email protected] with the subject Photo Reset data deletion request. Describe whether your request concerns support correspondence, purchase validation, advertising data, or app-update configuration data. We will explain the available steps and any limits that apply.
- Verification and RevenueCat: We may ask for the minimum information needed to identify the relevant record and verify your request, such as a RevenueCat App User ID if available or a relevant transaction reference. Please do not send photos, passwords, or full payment details. Photo Reset has no user account, so your email address alone may not identify an anonymous purchase record. When we can identify a record and are authorized to act, we will handle the request and instruct RevenueCat as appropriate. Deleting a RevenueCat record does not delete Apple's transaction records or issue a refund; a later restore or purchase may create a new validation record.
- Google advertising data: We do not have direct access to all records held by Google and cannot promise to identify or erase every advertising record. You can use Google's Privacy Help Center to access its privacy tools and request procedures, or contact us for help finding the relevant route. Withdrawing consent through the App's available ad privacy choices affects subsequent processing and does not automatically erase previously processed data.
- Local data and retention: To remove the App's local data, delete Photo Reset from your device rather than offloading it. This does not delete your original Apple Photos library or data held by service providers. We will delete support correspondence and other personal data we control when applicable, subject to necessary legal or security retention. If a request cannot be completed or some records must be retained, we will explain why.
6. Children's Privacy
Photo Reset does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Photo-library processing occurs locally on the user's device; purchase validation is described above.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
